# Microsoft Teams

Connect Squid to Microsoft Teams for instant notifications from Squid's VisitorID, letting you know who's on your website in real time. VisitorID transforms anonymous visitors into identifiable users, enabling you to retarget them effectively and capture more revenue.

### Setup Microsoft Teams

* Create a new channel or use an existing channel.  If you need to create a new channel, please follow [this](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-a-standard-private-or-shared-channel-in-microsoft-teams-fda0b75e-5b90-4fb8-8857-7e102b014525) guide. 
* Once you have a channel, you need to create a webhook for it. Webhooks are just a way for applications such as Squid to securely send messages to the channel. 

Follow these steps to create a new webhook in a Teams channel:

1.  **Select** the team and channel where you want to create the webhook.

2. **Click** on the three dots (...) next to the channel name.  **Select** **"Manage Channel"** from the dropdown menu.

3. In the __Settings__ menu, under __Connectors__, **Click** 'Edit'

4. In the __Search Box__, **type** 'webhook'

5. **Add** the 'Incoming Webhook' service. When the 'Incoming Webhook' service opens the dialog box, **click** 'Add'. If you return back to the services search menu, just **click** 'configure' on the webhook service.

6. You should now see the webhook configuration screen. **Provide** a name for your webhook. As a suggestion, name the webook 'Squid VisitorID®', as this will be displayed in the channel messages. (Optional) Upload an image to represent the webhook. You can use Squid's logo by downloading it [here](https://plugins.asksquid.ai/squid_cartoon_blue.png).

7.  Click **"Create"** to generate the webhook URL.

8. **Copy** the webhook URL provided. You will need this URL to send data to the Teams channel from Squid. We will add this webhook to Squid in the next section.
 
9. **Click** 'Done' to finish the setup. You can close out of any additional dialog windows.


### Setup Squid Teams Connector

1. In the Squid UI, go to the website you'd like to configure this webhook for. If you have multiple sites configured within Squid, you will need to setup a connection separately for each site. 

2. **Open** 'My Connections'. You can find this in the top right menu bar under the **plug** icon.

3. Under 'Notifications', **choose** "Microsoft Teams"

4. In the dialog box that appears, **paste** the FULL Webhook URL you copied from step 8 above into the input box. **Click** 'Save'

5. Go to Teams and view the channel you chose (or created) in the first section. You should have received a notification within the channel that the integration was successful.

Congratulations! You will now start receiving notifications inside the channel you chose when VisitorID identifies an anonymous user.
