Squid Account Roles

Squid Account Roles

Squid has 3 primary account-based roles: Account Owner, Account Admin and Website Super User.

*Role hierarchy: Account Owner > Account Admin > Website Super User. Higher roles inherit from less privileges roles.

Use Cases for Squid Account Roles:

Account Owner
This is typically the person who sets up the Squid account and handles billing. For example, if you’re the founder of a company, you’ll likely want to control the overall account, manage payments, and have the power to invite others as needed. You’ll also have the ability to add and remove websites or bring in new team members when scaling.

There is only 1 account owner.

Account Admin
If you’re part of a larger team, like a digital marketing agency that manages multiple client websites, you might not want the account owner (who handles billing) to be the only one managing websites. That’s where an Account Admin comes in. The admin can add or remove websites, manage website settings, and invite Super Users to handle day-to-day operations on specific sites. This role works well for operations managers who need flexibility but don’t need billing access.

Website Super User
Let’s say you want to give someone in your company (or maybe your client - if you are an agency) access to the Squid dashboard so they can see how their website is performing—without giving them control over the entire account. You’d assign them the Website Super User role. They can view and interact with the website’s data, make edits to the website settings, and get hands-on with analytics, but they won’t have access to add/delete websites within your account, or deal with billing. However, they can add additional Super Users. This role is ideal for clients or specific team members focusing on day-to-day website performance.
